Douglas County Recreation Access Plan

TREAD applied for the RCO’s Planning for Recreation Access Grant and was successful. This project will encompass all of Douglas County Washington. This is a rare opportunity to obtain funding and engage with our community, collaborate with stakeholders, and create the first Douglas County recreation plan. In this Assessment TREAD plans on identifying the following:

  1. Existing Outdoor Recreational Amenities within Douglas County

  2. Capture Community and Stakeholder feedback on existing amenities

  3. Identifying Future Outdoor Recreational Opportunities

  4. Graphically map where new opportunities and connections to existing amenities are identified

  5. Provide recommendations on Next Steps for the County and Stakeholders.

All the ideas generated from the community outreach events will be compiled into a plan that will provide Douglas County and its stakeholders a reference to use to apply for future funding for project-specific outdoor recreation. It will also provide a roadmap for TREAD's effort to increase sustainable trails and economic development through diverse partnerships and community leadership while advancing outdoor recreation for sustainability and accessibility for current and future users.

This Project is Funded by Thriving Together NCW and RCO.
