TREAD is the Recipient of $10,000 to support Northwest Motorcycle Association and their volunteer work on the Mad River Project.

Together with funding from Polaris and volunteer support from NMA, TREAD outfitted volunteers to begin work to restore trails on the Mad River Trail.

With this grant funding and partnerships with NMA and USFS Entiat Ranger District, Volunteers were outfitted with loppers, saw chains, saw mounts, gas, and other hand tools and equipment to restore 4 miles of trail. These grant funds supported the rental of a mini excavator, from a local dealer, to aid in this extensive restoration project. At the end of this project, The Lower Mad River Trail will be significantly rehabilitated and returned to its original specifications. This process will allow for the new bridges to be installed in 2024 and provide a better experience for all trail users.

There are specific challenges to the Lower Mad River Trail project location: The river runs very high during snowmelt and washes over the trail in several locations. The conditions of the river and snowmelt determine when trail work can start and where work can be done. Even with these changing conditions trail work has been successful and the project should be complete and ready for the Bridge Work to start in 2024.
